Solar batteries for Geelong & Brisbane homes
Store the sunshine your panels make during the day and use it at night, with backup options for outages. Sized to your usage, not the biggest box on the shelf.
A federal discount on eligible batteries
The Australian Government funds a discount of around 30% on eligible batteries installed with new or existing rooftop solar. It is usually applied upfront by your installer, so you see it straight off the price.
- Battery systems from 5 kWh up to 100 kWh may be eligible
- Must be connected to new or existing rooftop solar
- The discount steps down every six months
- Batteries over 14 kWh receive a tapered discount
Your exact discount depends on the battery’s usable capacity and your installation date. We show it as a line item in your quote.
One day with a solar battery
Illustrative only. Your pattern depends on your system and how you use power.
Panels power the house first
Solar runs your home. Anything left over charges the battery instead of being exported for a small credit.
The battery takes over
When the sun drops, stored energy runs lights, cooking and aircon through the most expensive hours.
Backup when you need it
Whatever is left covers overnight use. With a backup-capable setup, key circuits keep running in a blackout.
Honest advice before you buy
A battery is a great fit for some homes and a poor one for others. Here’s how to tell.
Usually worth it if
- You use a lot of power after dark
- You export plenty of solar for a low feed-in credit
- You want backup for blackouts and storms
- You’re planning an EV or going all-electric
Think twice if
- You already use most of your solar during the day
- Your solar system is too small to fill a battery
- You expect to sell or move house soon
- Your switchboard needs an upgrade first (we’ll price it upfront)
Three ways to add storage
Whether you’re starting fresh or already have panels, there’s a setup that fits.
New solar + battery
Panels, hybrid inverter and battery designed together.
- One system, one warranty conversation
- Sized as a matched set from day one
- Simplest install and monitoring
Add to existing solar
Make the panels you already have work into the night.
- AC-coupled battery or hybrid inverter upgrade
- We check your current system first
- Option to add panels if needed
Blackout backup
Keep essential circuits running during outages.
- Backup for lights, fridge and internet
- Whole-home backup on suitable setups
- We explain exactly what stays on
Getting the size right
Too small and you run out at 8pm. Too big and it never fills. We model these four things.
Evening & overnight use
How much power you use once the sun goes down.
Spare solar
Whether your panels make enough surplus to fill the battery most days.
Backup needs
Which circuits you want to keep running during an outage.

Talk to a Solar ExpertIt depends on battery size, brand, whether you need a new inverter, and any backup features. Eligible batteries attract a federal discount through the Cheaper Home Batteries Program. We show the discount as a line item in your itemised quote.
Big enough to cover your evening and overnight use, and small enough that your solar can fill it on most days. We size it from your usage data. Oversized batteries cost more and often sit half empty.
Usually, yes. Depending on your current inverter, we either add an AC-coupled battery or upgrade to a hybrid inverter. If your system is small or old, we may suggest adding panels too.
Only if the system is installed with backup capability. Many setups back up selected circuits such as lights, fridge and internet rather than the whole house. We explain exactly what stays on before you buy.
Quality home batteries typically come with a warranty of around 10 years, often with a guaranteed minimum capacity at the end. Actual life depends on the battery chemistry, how it is used and the installation conditions.
A VPP is a program run by an energy retailer that links many home batteries together. In return for letting the retailer use some of your stored energy at peak times, you may receive credits or better rates. We can explain the options available to you.
